New Translations of Belarusian Poems Published by Free All Words Project
We’re excited to share that poems by Belarusian poets Źmicier Kres, Taciana Niadbaj, Uladzimir Niakliaeu, and Ludmila Simanionak have just been published in English, thanks to the #FreeAllWords translation project.
The translations were done by poet John Farndon and Jenya Mironava, a Preceptor in Slavic Languages and Literatures here at Harvard. Their work has brought these powerful poems to a wider audience, allowing more people to connect with the voices of Belarusian writers.
The#FreeAllWords project was founded in 2022 by the European Writers' Council with the aim of supporting Ukrainian and Belarusian authors who persist in their creative work despite the challenges posed by Russian military aggression in Ukraine and the harsh repression of free speech and self-expression by the Belarusian regime.
