Congratulations of Elizaveta Kheresh on the release of a new book of poems!
The Department is pleased to congratulate Elizaveta Kheresh, Ph.D. Student in Slavic Languages and Literature, on the release of a new book of poems, Дни вповалку (Days in a Jumble) (Hochroth, 2026). Дни вповалку, co-edited by exiled Belarusian poet Dmitry Strotsev, gathers Elizaveta's poems from various years dedicated to Belarus' , poems that reflect Elizaveta's deep engagement with Belarusian literature and culture and poetic dialogue with Belarusian writers such as Jeŭdakija Łoś and Alena Kiš.
The second part of the book, titled "Jewish Variations", contains Elizaveta's previously unpublished poems written in dialogue with the Yiddish-language literary tradition in Belarus', based on texts by poets Moyshe Kulbak, Izi Kharik, and, in particular, Sore Kogan.
We are very proud of Elizaveta, and excited to see the cultural diversity of the region we study reflected not only in her scholarly work, but also in her artistic practice.
