Tribute to John Malmstad in Новое литературное обозрение

The most recent issue of Новое литературное обозрение (Novoe literaturnoe obozrenie) contains a splendid memorial tribute to departed colleague John Malmstad, late Samuel Hazzard Cross Research Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures. These tributes to John are a testament to the enormous impact he had on the field, and to the great respect and esteem held for him by colleagues, in North America, Russia, and beyond. To quote from Roman Timenchik's tribute (Aрбитр):  "An arbiter of intellectual elegance, Malmstad was, at the same time, a workhorse who never slacked off, and in the type of philological activity he chose for himself, a true master craftsman, the kind whose work forced its reader to mumble something along the lines of - 'well done.'"
