Warm Congratulations to Professor Khitrova on the publication of her new book!

We are pleased to congratulate Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures Daria Khitrova on the publication of her new book, Impossible Project: The Story of Russian Ballet and Its Survival (Oxford University Press, 2025). This book presents a revisionist account of Russian ballet from the mid-nineteenth to the early twentieth century, weaving together cultural, literary, and social history, as well as source material previously accessible only in Russian, to portray the unlikely survival and flourishing of ballet in Russia and abroad. This book is a substantial new contribution to the field of ballet history, and we are very proud to celebrate Professor Khitrova's achievement. For an opportunity to dive into ballet history with Professor Khitrova, register for Slavic 121: Ballet Past and Present, this spring!
