Hope Nicholson earned her BA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford in 2023 and an MPhil in Comparative Literature from the University of Cambridge a year later. During her undergraduate degree, Hope studied Russian literature from 1100 to the present and travelled to St Petersburg and Moscow. At Cambridge, Hope's coursework explored nineteenth-century women writers and late-Soviet literary testimony, but it was the contemporary authors Maria Stepanova and Polina Barskova who became the focus of her Master's dissertation on (post-)Soviet remembrance. In 2025, Hope entered the PhD program at Harvard, where she intends to examine the relationship between witnessing and literature in twentieth-century Poland and the Soviet Union.
