Brian has been the Staff Assistant in the Slavic Department since January 2016. Before coming to Harvard, he taught English as a Second Language for over three years at Boston International Academy in Brighton and the YMCA International Learning Center in downtown Boston. He also worked as a Tour Guide at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox for two seasons. Brian began studying Russian as a student at Cleveland Benedictine High School. He went on to earn two degrees from the Ohio State University in  Russian language as well as Slavic and Eastern European Studies, focusing on the history of the Soviet Union and the aftermath of the fall of communism around Eastern Europe. At Ohio State, he spent two summers studying abroad in Moscow at Russian State University for the Humanities. There he gained a deep appreciation for Russian language and culture, especially folk music.
