A warm congratulations to [Dr. Dmitrii Pastushenkov](https://slavic.fas.harvard.edu/people/dmitrii-pastushenkov) and [Dr. Liya Zalaltdinova](https://slavic.fas.harvard.edu/people/liya-zalaltdinova), Preceptors in Slavic Languages and Literatures (Russian Language Program), on the publication of their edited volume [*Assessment of Russian as a Foreign Language: Unlocking Proficiency*](https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/edit/10.4324/9781003476122/assessment-russian-foreign-language-dmitrii-pastushenkov-liya-zalaltdinova), part of the Routledge Russian Language Pedagogy and Research series.

The volume explores a wide range of topics, including learner-centered approaches, proficiency-oriented assessment, constructionist frameworks, and technological innovations such as automated proficiency assessment and generative AI. The volume also addresses emerging trends in the assessment of Russian as a Foreign Language , including social justice in assessment, feminist approaches, ungrading, positive psychology, and game-based assessments. We are very proud of Dr. Pastushenkov and Dr. Zalaltdinova's contribution to these important pedagogical discussions, and look forward to impact that this volume will have!
