Congratulations and Letter of Support for Professor George Grabowicz 

The faculty members of the Department of Slavic Language wish to congratulate Dmytro Chyzhevs’kyi Professor of Ukrainian Literature George Grabowicz at Harvard University on the honor of his nomination for the 2015 National Taras Shevchenko Award. Professor Grabowicz is an internationally renowned scholar of Ukrainian literature and culture with many groundbreaking publications, including his recent Shevchenko's "Hajdamaky" Poem and its Reception (2013). He is the Editor in Chief of Krytyka Press and the journal Krytyka, and he is the President of the Shevchenko Society in the US.  

We deeply regret that Professor Grabowicz’s nomination has provoked personal political attacks on him in Ukraine, but we welcome the opportunity to offer him our unqualified support. Professor Grabowicz is a scholar and colleague of uncompromising high standards. His unwavering dedication to Ukraine and Ukrainian literature and culture has been a model for all of us.
